Blue Sky Ranch is 320 acres of prairie and river hills on the North Saskatchewan, about 40 minutes from Saskatoon. Three places to stay, eighteen trails down through the hills to the water, corrals for your horses, and a night sky guests keep writing about.
The Place
One family's ranch, shared.
Blue Sky Ranch is two quarter sections, about 320 acres, of prairie and river hills above the North Saskatchewan, looked after by one family and shared with guests. Stay in the old homestead or one of the cabins, walk the trails down to the water, fish, paddle, and end the day around a fire.
It's not a resort, and it doesn't try to be one. The buildings are honest, the quiet is real, and the sky does most of the decorating.

Grandma’s House
The original homestead, sleeps ten above the North Saskatchewan River.
Foreman’s Cabin
A two-bedroom cabin on the edge of the ravine, with a wood fire and room for five.
Riverview Cabin
A rustic cabin for two or three in the river hills, with running water, river views, and a tenting site alongside.
Things to do
Eighteen trails, one river, and a ravine with a big nickname
Eighteen named trails run the river hills, 8.5 kilometres in all, and seven of them drop to the North Saskatchewan. They get mowed twice a year. Some are a quick walk before breakfast. Some will take your whole morning, and you’ll let them.
The river holds sturgeon and walleye if you fish, and it’s an easy paddle if you bring a canoe or kayak. Then there’s the ravine the family calls the Grand Canyon of the Prairies, where seven beaver dams step down toward the river one after another. The name is theirs, but stand at the rim and you’ll let them keep it.
The second show starts when the sun goes down.
There are no streetlights out here and no city glow worth mentioning. On a clear night the Milky Way comes up over the river and stays put. Bring a blanket out to the fire pit and look up for a while. Guests bring up the stars in their reviews again and again.
Peaceful & scenic
Grandma's House is a gem and Jarvis is a wonderful host! Beautiful views of the autumn colours, splendid sunrise & sunsets, dark night skies with so many stars - all so amazing! Our time here was a wonderful, well needed retreat.
Fall get away
Its our favorite time to get away with all the fall colors. This place has an incredible view of the river. We saw a moose. I would bring binoculars so you can see them better..... We had a bonfire at night and it was great to see the stars.... The house has a cozy feeling and we also brought our cozy blankets and slippers... You can also watch a movie... The host enjoys meeting people, and brought over some eggs and gave a tour in his own truck of the river pathway... its a nice place to hike as well...
A lovely vacation.
Thank you, Jarvis, for a lovely welcome. We had an amazing time. Enjoyed hikes and walks to the river, swam in it almost every day (even saw a beaver on our last morning). Deer and their fawns were seen almost daily. Sunsets were breathtaking... fireside every night and stargazing... lots of shooting stars during our stay :) So serene and relaxing. Thank you.
Weddings & Events
Gather at The Ranch
Weddings and gatherings here use the whole ranch. Say your vows on the ravine edge or in the chapel with its real church windows. Hold the party outdoors under a tent or indoors in the Granary, with a saloon, a stage that has hosted live bands, a beer garden and a full kitchen close by. A bunkhouse takes the overflow guests. Weddings here have doubled in each of the last two years.
Horses & Fishing
Bring your horses. Bring your rods.
Two things the ranch does that few places within an hour of Saskatoon do: corrals so you can vacation with your horses, and river fishing on a quiet stretch of the North Saskatchewan.
Vacation with your horses
Corrals with water bowls and prairie pasture sit beside the Foreman's Cabin, so your horses stay a short walk from your bed. Ride the river hills on mowed trails, then turn them out for the evening.
Fish the North Saskatchewan
Sturgeon and walleye come out of this stretch of river, and the sandbars make natural casting spots. Seven trails lead down to the water, and one of them is called the Fishing Loop.
